The Nunatsiavut Government is planning to build a new certified airport to replace the existing airstrip at Nain.
The three main components of the Project, shown here in Figure 1.1, are:
– Airport, which refers to the terminal, equipment maintenance hangar, apron, groundside parking and related facilities, as well as an area of 1,300 m2 set aside for potential future development.
– Runway, a new airstrip approximately 1,830 m (6,000 ft) in length and 30 m (100 ft) in width, exclusive of the apron (manoeuvring areas).
– Access Road, a new road approximately 13 km long joining the Airport to Nain.
