Nunatsiavut President Johannes Lampe today extended congratulations to Premier-elect Tony Wakeham and the Progressive Conservative Party of Newfoundland and Labrador on forming the new provincial government following yesterday’s general election.
“I wish the new Premier every success as he begins this important leadership role,” said President Lampe. “We look forward to working collaboratively with his government to address the priorities and concerns of Labrador Inuit and to advance true reconciliation in this province. A key part of that work must include the full and effective implementation of the Labrador Inuit Land Claims Agreement.”
President Lampe also offered special congratulations to Lela Evans on her re-election as the Member of the House of Assembly for Torngat Mountains.
“Lela has been a tireless advocate for the people of her district, and we a look forward to working with her to ensure our voices are heard and respected.”
The Nunatsiavut Government remains committed to building productive relationship with the new provincial government, grounded in mutual understanding and a shared commitment to improving the lives of Labrador Inuit, said the President.
