The Nunatsiavut Government Department of Health and Social Development (DHSD) is pleased to offer Beneficiaries of the Labrador Inuit Land Claims Agreement online access to the Non-Insured Health Benefits (NIHB) program.
NIHB is a national program that provides eligible Inuit Beneficiaries with coverage for various health benefits that are not covered through other social programs, private insurance, or provincial or territorial health insurance. NIHB covers some, if not all, costs for medical, dental, vision, and pharmaceutical services. This program allows for the provision of medical-related services to maintain health, disease prevention, diagnose and treating illness, injury or death.
The new NIHB Travel Portal, launched May 7, 2026, allows Beneficiaries of the Labrador Inuit Land Claims Agreement to make changes to existing NIHB travel arrangements, extend travel for additional appointments, upload claim documents, book transportation and check-in for appointments.
“This new portal will provide clients with easier access to the NIHB program at any time, from any location,” explains Michelle Kinney, deputy minister of the Department of Health and Social Development. “While it is meant to enhance services for users, we will still be continuing with paper processing for those uncomfortable going online.”
To access the NIHB Travel Portal, visit Nunatsiavut.com or directly access at https://nihb.aiscloud.ca/ReimbursementPortal. Users will need to create an account using the Beneficiary number found on your Nunatsiavut Government Membership Card.
