The Nunatsiavut Government’s Department of Language, Culture, and Tourism is accepting applications for the Kimutsik Pilot Project.
This pilot project aims to support existing and interested Kimutsitet (dog mushers) who are Beneficiaries of the Labrador Inuit Land Claims Agreement residing in any of the five (5) Inuit communities.
Eligible individuals must be at least 16 years of age and can apply for up to $1,500.00 per calendar year. To be eligible, existing kimutsitik must commit to sharing their knowledge about kimutsik with youth and community members, have an established kimutsik or is interested in starting one.
Supports can include:
• Dog food
• Material to build a fence (chain link) or komatik
• Help with the Annual Heritage Dog Team Race
