The Nunatsiavut Assembly today voted to accept the recommendation of First Minister Melva Williams to appoint Roxanne Barbour, the Ordinary Member for Nain, as the Minister of Health and Social Development.
First Minister Williams, who has held the portfolio on an acting basis, expressed her confidence in the appointment and extended a warm welcome to Ms. Barbour as she joins the Nunatsiavut Executive Council.
“I am pleased that the Assembly has supported my recommendation to appoint Ms. Barbour to this important role,” said First Minister Williams. “Her experience and dedication to the people of Nain and Nunatsiavut will serve our government well as we continue working to strengthen health and social development programs for Beneficiaries of the Labrador Inuit Land Claims Agreement.”
