Health Promotion provides wide range of social and environmental interventions that are designed to benefit and protect individual people’s health and quality of life by addressing and preventing the root causes of ill health, not just focusing on treatment and cure. The Health promotion division is engaged with partners and stakeholders at the community, regional, provincial and national level.
Health Promotion is an integral component of the Department of Health & Social Development (DHSD) and as such the division supports the priorities outlined every five years in the DHSD Regional Action Plan. Several areas of priority include, but are not limited to, include:
- Tobacco & Vaping
- Sexual Health & Wellness
- Chronic Disease Prevention
- COVID-19
- HIV/AIDs
- Hepatitis C
- Physical Health
- Mental Wellness & Healing
