First Minister Melva Williams today announced the appointment of David Dicker Jr., an Ordinary Member for Nain in the Nunatsiavut Assembly and Minister of Finance, Human Resources and Information Technology, as Acting Minister of Language, Culture and Tourism.

Minister Dicker assumes the role following the resignation of Gerald Asivak, Ordinary Member for Lake Melville, who is relocating to St. John’s to pursue new opportunities.

First Minister Williams thanked Mr. Asivak for his service and expressed confidence in Minister Dicker’s ability to provide continuity during the transition.

“Minister Dicker brings a steady hand and a deep commitment to our government’s priorities,” said First Minister Williams. “I am confident he will provide strong leadership in this acting role as we continue advancing important work in language revitalization, cultural preservation, and tourism development throughout Nunatsiavut.”

Minister Dicker will continue to serve in both portfolios until a new Nunatsiavut Executive Council is sworn in following the May general election for Ordinary Members.

The Nunatsiavut Government extends its appreciation to Mr. Asivak for his contributions and wishes him well in his future endeavours.
