The Nunatsiavut Government is seeking applications from Beneficiaries of the Labrador Inuit Land Claims Agreement to serve as one of its appointed representatives on the Torngat Joint Fisheries Board (TJFB).

 The primary activities of the Torngat Joint Fisheries Board include:

  • the Conservation of species or stocks of Fish in the Labrador Inuit Settlement Area listed in schedules 13-B and 13-C of the Labrador Inuit Land Claims Agreement (LILCA), species of Aquatic Plants in the Labrador Inuit Settlement Area (LISA) and Fish Habitat in the LISA; and
  • the management of fisheries in the LISA, other than the Inuit Domestic Fishery and the Inuit Domestic Harvest Level, with respect to a species or stock of Fish listed in schedules 13-B and 13-C of LILCA.

Qualifications:
Applicants must have an understanding of Inuit rights, traditional knowledge, and the principles of fisheries co-management, along with expertise in conservation principles, policy development, and collaborative resource management.
