NG Indigenous Languages Component Program Application Form Application for Funding
The Nunatsiavut Department of Language, Culture and Tourism (LCT) is currently accepting applications for language and culture funding through the Indigenous Languages Component NG (ILCNG) program.
Historically, the ILC funds have been administered directly by the Department of Canadian Heritage to Indigenous groups. The Inuit ILC funding is now being distributed directly to the four Inuit land claims regions for implementation.
In April 2025, LCT launched the first call for applications under the ILCNG program. This program is available to registered Inuit businesses and other organizations that provide Inuttitut programming to support the reclamation, revitalization, and/ or maintenance of Inuttitut for Labrador Inuit.
Eligible projects for the ILCNG funds include:
- Cultural development and programs;
- Language development and programs;
- Conferences/gatherings for the advancement of Inuttitut and Inuit culture;
- Leadership development toward Inuttitut and Inuit culture;
- Life skills and wellness that incorporate the learning of Inuttitut and Inuit culture;
- Education and training for Inuttitut Instructors and teachers;
- Production and broadcast of radio, television, and programming for Inuttitut and cultural programming;
- Innovation and new technologies for Inuttitut and Inuit cultural use;
- Consultation and coordination for Inuttitut and Inuit cultural activities;
- Research, studies, and community assessment for Inuttitut and Inuit cultural activities; and
- Management and administration for Inuttitut and Inuit cultural activities;
Priority will be given to applicants within the Nunatsiavut region. Applications will also be selected from Upper Lake Melville and the Constituency of Canada.
Available funding: $150,000 will be provided for the ILCNG funding for 2026-2027. This will be divided amongst successful applicants. Applicants can apply for up to $50,000 in funding.
Applications will be accepted and reviewed twice a year by the selection committee. Deadlines are: April 30 and October 30.
