As of the close of nominations today at noon (Atlantic Standard Time), only one candidate, Johannes Lampe of Nain, filed papers for the position of President of Nunatsiavut.
He has been declared elected, subject to his participating in the Inuttitut debate as per The Nunatsiavut Elections Act.
Once Mr. Lampe has participated in the Inuttitut debate, he can then be officially declared elected by the Nunatsiavut Electoral Officer.
The time and date of the debate will be determined in the coming days.
