The Nunatsiavut Government joins with the community of Rigolet in mourning the loss of respected Inuttitut educator Ellen Ann Adams, who passed away on May 19 at the Health Science Centre in St. John’s at the age of 49.
“The passing of Ms. Adams is a profound loss to the community of Rigolet and, indeed, all of Nunatsiavut,” stated President Lampe. “We have lost not only a respected resident, but a guiding light in our efforts to preserve our language and culture. Her passion for promoting Inuttitut was not confined to the classroom. She volunteered tirelessly, organizing events, fundraising for graduation ceremonies, and accompanying youth to various competitions, all aimed at fostering a deeper connection to our culture and way of life.
“On behalf of the Nunatsiavut Government, I extend my deepest condolences to the family and friends of Ellen Ann Adams, as well as the community of Rigolet, during this difficult time.”
