Working with both the federal and provincial governments, as well as other Inuit populations, the Secretariat works on behalf of Beneficiaries of the Labrador Inuit Land Claims Agreement to ensure the upholding of their rights and common goals.
The Secretariat works on behalf of the Nunatsiavut Government to ensure that federal and provincial governments recognize and honour the rights of Labrador Inuit and the terms of the Labrador Inuit Land Claims Agreement. The Secretariat maintains working relationships with the Government of Canada and the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador; and participates in forums such as the Land Claims Agreement Coalition (LCAC).
The Secretariat also recognizes the importance of liaison activities with Inuit in Canada and the circumpolar world in pursuit of our common goals. In keeping with this objective, the President sits on the Board of Directors of Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami, the national Inuit organization.

The Communications division of the Secretariat is responsible in ensuring that the Nunatsiavut Government is transparent and honest in everything we do.

Policy and Planning
The Policy and Planning division oversees many initiatives and programs related to policy with Nunatsiavut, as well as those under the Energy Security division. The director of Policy and Planning oversees the division.
