The Department of Health and Social Development operates an emergency shelter in Happy Valley-Goose Bay in the Housing Hub, which is open 24/7 and serves both the homeless and the transient population. In addition there are 7 Supportive Living units for individuals with multiple & complex needs which are staffed 24/7 as well as 6 apartments with drop in supports. The Government of NL – NLHC provides funding to support these operations.  Two individual living arrangements located in Happy Valley-Goose Bay for beneficiaries provide 24/7 supports on behalf of Labrador Grenfell Health.

In Nunatsiavut an emergency shelter in the community of Nain operates with funds from the Federal Government through Reaching Home. NLHC provides funding to support a Supportive Living unit in each of Nain & Hopedale for individuals with multiple & complex needs.  We also support a seven-plex in each of Nain & Hopedale for families at risk of having their children come into the care of Child Senior and Social Development or who potentially could have their children returned with appropriate housing and Supports.  The department also provides support to three seniors and three youth apartments within the prototype.  The Supportive Housing Manager, located in Hopedale, oversees all these services.
